STUDENT LIFE IN MÜNSTER

Few German cities are as popular with students as Münster. With 14 universities, interesting sights, a picturesque old town and plenty of bars, pubs and clubs, this is a chic city to be seen. As well as being a student city, Münster is also known as a cycling eldorado and the city with the highest density of pubs. Sounds good, doesn't it? Let us show you what makes student life in Münster so special.

STUDENT CITY WITH 14 UNIVERSITIES & 60.500 STUDENTS

If you want to study in Münster, you are spoilt for choice. The city in North Rhine-Westphalia is home to 14 state, private and church-run universities offering a wide range of subjects. The most well-known are the German Police University, the Academy of Fine Arts , Münster University of Applied Sciences and the University of Münster[MR3] . With 15 faculties, the latter is one of the largest and most popular universities in Germany. With around 60,500 students, who make up almost 19% of the population, Münster is a true student city.

MÜNSTER – THE CITY OF CYCLING

Münster is not only known as a student city, but also as a cycling city. It is said that there are more bicycles in Münster than inhabitants. There are 500,000 bicycles for the 310,600 inhabitants, and this can be seen all over the city. So it's no wonder that cycling is the most popular form of transport in Münster. Universities, nightlife and places of interest are often so close together that it would almost be a sin not to get on a bike or “Leeze”, how the locals call their bikes.

PARTY HARD – MÜNSTER’S NIGHTLIFE

If you study and work hard during the day, you have to party hard at night! As befits a real student city, Münster has plenty of clubs, bars, and pubs where you can turn the night into day. Did you know? Münster has the highest density of pubs in Germany. There is something for everyone. The best days to party in Münster are Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The biggest student party is on Wednesdays at the Gazelle – don't miss it.

SAVE MONEY – STUDENT DISCOUNTS

Studying in Münster has many advantages. There is an incredible amount to experience and discover - and as a student you can also save money. For example, students get great discounts on theatre and cinema tickets. You can also save money at the hairdresser, on massages, at the swimming pools and the Westfalen-Therme, at selected restaurants like Mongo's Restaurant and even at denn's organic market. You can also get the Kultur Semesterticket, which gives you free or reduced entry to a wide range of cultural events such as theatres and museums.

Münster is a really cool city, and not just for students. That's why so many people want to move here. As in any city, housing is scarce and it's not easy to find a nice and affordable place to live or a room in a shared flat. Luckily, we have something up our sleeve: our student apartments. The two apartment complexes are modern, spacious, located in popular areas and just 2.5 and 5 km from WWU and the city centre - the perfect home for students.
